Priority for Renewables
In front of more than 200 participants Rita Schwarzelühr-Sutter, Parliamentary Secretary of State in the Federal Ministry of the Environment and NEDO Chairman Kazuo Furukawa opened the 6th German-Japanese Environment and Energy Dialogue Forum.
Both stressed the importance of the forum as a meanwhile established platform for the bilateral dialogue on current environmental and energy topics. The transformation of energy supply presents Germany just like Japan with a great challenge. Secretary of State Schwarzelühr-Sutter promoted the German energy transition as role model, despite some recent negative headlines on a stagnating energy transition, cost explosions and shrinking support in the population in Japanese media.
Under the heading “Priority for Renewables: from generation via storage up to the vehicle” experts from Germany and Japan discussed strategies, technologies and model projects within the fields of wind power, heat pumps, energy storage, smart grids/smart communities and e-mobility.
The energy transition, the development of smart communities and e-mobility were discussed also taking the aspect „human" into account: as social transformation which has to start at /with the people respectively customers. Opportunities for cooperation were (among others) identified in the field of systemic integration of renewable energies and at the combination of research and manufacturing of heat pump systems.
