Lower Saxony Representative Office in Japan
Lower Saxony Representative Office in Japan
Lower Saxony will open its own foreign representative office in Tokyo in April 2020. After a Europe-wide tender ECOS has been awarded the contract to manage the branch office.
The background to this is the conviction of the State Ministry of Economics that Japan offers interesting perspectives to companies in Lower Saxony, especially in the areas of digitalisation, sustainable energy, mobility and life science.
The new representation is intended to intensify the existing economic contacts to Japan.
After the USA, China, Russia and Iran, Japan is the fifth country in which Lower Saxony has a representative office. According to the Ministry, Japan had imported goods worth 883 million euros to Lower Saxony in 2018, while Lower Saxony's exports to Japan had a volume of more than 1.3 billion euros. Mining, construction and building material machines are the main goods imported into Lower Saxony from Japan. Lower Saxony primarily exported cars and motor homes.
